Architecture

At Felix Lewis we are not just designers — we are makers. Our practice is rooted in the act of building. We approach design as a tactile, problem-solving process. We approach architecture as a hands-on, problem-solving process — turning good ideas into buildings that are thoughtful, enduring, and well made.

View The Work

the brief

At the outset of every project, we take the time to understand how our clients live, work, and move through their world. We listen closely — learning not just how they hope to use their space, but how they hope to feel in it. Through site visits, surveys, and conversations, we begin to piece together the context — physical, personal, and environmental — that will shape the architecture to come. Alongside this, we consider practical essentials like timescale, budget, planning constraints, and structural requirements to ensure the project has a solid foundation from the start.

CONCEPTS

With a clear brief in place, we begin developing the concept designs. These include proposed layouts, sketches, and elevations that explore the form, flow, and spatial character of the project. We think carefully about how light moves through a space, how views are framed, and how materials might age over time. Where relevant, we’ll also share reference imagery or mood studies to convey tone and atmosphere — giving you a tangible sense of how the architecture might evolve.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Once the concept is agreed, we refine every element in detail. This is where structure, materials, and technical performance come together. We’ll produce final drawings, coordinate with engineers and consultants, and develop bespoke elements where needed — from built-in joinery to external detailing. At this stage, we also provide a full breakdown of projected costs, ensuring transparency and clarity before progressing to construction.
