Maryland Court
An extensively modernised 1960s chalet house with Japanese inspired landscaped gardens.

In a quiet suburban neighbourhood, a retired couple asked us to reimagine their much-loved family home. What began as a modest chalet bungalow has been transformed into a light-filled, contemporary house that balances comfort, practicality, and character.

‍

The redesign opened exciting opportunities to improve everyday living. A thoughtfully planned extension created a generous new kitchen, forming a bright, social heart for cooking, entertaining, and family gatherings. An additional fourth bedroom provides space for guests, while a gym supports the couple’s focus on health and wellbeing.

‍

Smart home technology is seamlessly integrated, allowing lighting, heating, blinds, and security to be controlled from a central hub. This intuitive system enhances comfort and simplifies daily routines.

‍

Outside, a Japanese-inspired landscaped garden provides a tranquil retreat. Carefully placed stones, gently rustling grasses, and a subtle water feature create a meditative space that invites calm and connection with nature. Designed for reflection as well as beauty, the garden complements the home’s modern interiors.

‍

The result is a contemporary sanctuary that supports retirement living, combining thoughtful design, comfort, and timeless charm.
