Set along the banks of the River Medway, this extraordinary Egyptian Revival Water Works has been reimagined as the headquarters of a high-end British audio specialist. Once filled with industrial machinery and crowned by obelisks, it now houses a richly layered interior that bridges historic grandeur with modern refinement.
Our brief was to create a workplace that reflected the precision and craftsmanship of the brand’s British-made products while honouring the building’s striking heritage. The resulting design celebrates both — balancing materiality, heritage, and quiet confidence.
Inspired by Egyptian temples and sun-baked landscapes, the palette layers sand, terracotta, and umber to evoke frescoes and desert horizons. Bespoke details — hieroglyph-inspired glass and robust tiled flooring designed to endure the Medway’s tides — root the scheme in place.
Glazed partitions and Crittall-style windows preserve light and long views, while minimal furnishings allow texture and craft to take centre stage. The result: a calm, resilient interior that unites legacy and contemporary British excellence.
