A complete remoulding of a post war bungalow into a contemporary family home.

The form of the building developed from the existing footprint of the house, creating an extruded section with two storey side extension.  To reduce the mass from the street, the main body of the building runs the pitch perpendicular to the street, with a metal clad kitchen and ancillary bedroom wing. The materials used on the extension were influenced by the existing red bricks of the street, slate roof of the neighbouring building and dark zinc cladding in relation to the church at the end of the street

Extending Up

To create a functional home for the family, the first floor extension frees up the ground floor to create three reception rooms and a private study.  The existing building is the only single storey building on the street with the other buildings being a diverse collection of two storey houses. The proposed extension is a contemporary addition to the varied streetscape.
