Brighton New Homes
- Project Type: Residential
- Client: Brighton & Hove City Council
- Status: Longlisted
- Location: Brighton
CF. Architects were longlisted for two of the four sites in the Brighton New Homes RIBA Competition in 2015.
The Hill-House concept was developed specifically for the competition to create an innovative, adaptable and highly flexible housing type particularly suited to sloping sites. The backland nature of the sites required a thoughtful design approach to access, overlooking and buildability.
Split section
The houses follow the natural topography of the land with a split section to achieve a balance in cut and fill volumes to reduce the cost of earthworks and achieve a more sustainable solution. The split section also reduces the mass of the development which is particularly important for the backland Brighton sites.
